The Zest-it® Alla Prima Medium is a mixture of Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner, Linseed Stand Oil and Gum Damar and based on very traditional formula. We upgraded the medium by using our solvent to make the a safer solution for artists, it is non-toxic and non-flammable. Use when working 'wet on wet' or 'direct painting', add the medium to tube Oil paint, either on the palette or on the canvas, it can also be added to the canvas and painted into directly. Ideal for the Plein air artist. Zest-it Alla Prima Medium will improve the flow of oil paint, make blending easier, with non-yellowing properties. It has the viscosity of a very thin oil, it is best used sparingly for optimum results as a little goes a long way. Touch dry in about 48 hours depending on application and ambient conditions. Slow drying oil paint colours will slow the drying. The Alla Prima Medium can be thinned further if required with the Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner. It is best not to add any extra Linseed Oil to the medium as this will severely affect adhesion and slow the drying to the detriment of the painting.
