The Airbrush Cleaner Range:-
We were approached some time ago about having safer products to clean Airbrushes than the spirits, turps, laquers, thinners and other products in regular use. We have researched, assessed, tested and are now introducing the new Zest-it range for Airbrush Artists through Jacksons Art Supplies

For Acrylic and water based media we have the Airbrush Cleaner to flush through the brushes when changing colours while working and the Airbrush Reviver to soak your Airbrush in for those times when you 'were too busy' to clean up and it's dried on.

For those that prefer oil and Enamels then we have one product that does both jobs in one - the Airbrush Cleaner and Reviver.
Easy to use with a slight orange/citrus smell, they are non-flammable and non-toxic.

The Airbrush Cleaner
(for use with Acrylic and water based media):-

is for spraying through the Airbrush when a colour change is necessary whilst working.

Place a few drops (1 ml) of the Airbrush Cleaner into the paint cup of the Airbrush and spray into a 'cleaning pot'. Spray through until clear, pour out remaining liquid from cup or wipe with kitchen towel and add water. Spray through until clear. Wipe the cup with kitchen towel and add new colour to cup, test spray on scrap paper.

Point to note - if you leave the airbrush for a short time between colour changes when cleaning, without flushing with water, you may find the original colour comes out of the brush when you start again. This is because the cleaner keeps working and has cleaned more residue out of the brush! Flush with water and change colour.

The Airbrush Reviver
(for use with Acrylic and water based media)
:-
for cleaning and releasing an Airbrush clogged with Acrylic paint and the like.

If your Airbrush is clogged and has dried paint blocking it, then a soak in the Airbrush Reviver will restore it back to full working order.
Put a small amount of the Zest-it Airbrush Reviver into a shallow tray. Having disconnected the airline, disassembled the airbrush and place in the fluid. Once the airbrush parts are clean, wash with water, dry and re-assemble the airbrush.

The Reviver will make your fingers slippy, so best practice would be Nitrile gloves for grip and hand protection or a bowl of water and hand-towel to clean and dry your hands as you work. You may otherwise find the small parts of the airbrush slipping out of your grip before you know it! Also working with a paper cloth or towel helps.

We tested many different (acrylic; gouache; watercolour; inks) products and found soaking for up to 10 minutes cleaned and released the airbrush. Different products may require a longer soak.

The Reviver can be re-used - allow to stand, then filter (cloth or paper) into a clean container. Label and store the used Zest-it Airbrush Reviver for re-use.

The Airbrush Cleaner and Reviver:-
(for use with Enamels and oil based media)
Multifunctional product for thinning paint, cleaning and restoring your Airbrushes after use with Enamels or oil based paints and inks.

Use to thin your oil paint and Enamels when using in the Airbrush, note the dilution so you can reproduce the resultant colour/viscosity.

For using at colour change:-
Place just a few drops (1 ml) into the paint cup of the Airbrush and spray into a 'cleaning pot', spray through until clear. Pour out remaining liquid from cup or wipe dry with kitchen towel, add new colour and test on scrap paper.

If the Airbrush is clogged, disconnect from airline, place in suitable shallow sided container and add Airbrush Cleaner and Reviver to cover.
Allow to soak for about 10 minutes, further soaking may be necessary depending on the paint/ink.
The parts may feel slippy to the touch, so best practice would be Nitrile gloves for grip and hand protection or a bowl of soapy water and hand-towel to clean and dry your hands as you work. You may otherwise find the small parts of the airbrush slipping out of your grip before you know it! Also working with a paper cloth or towel helps.
Once the airbrush parts are clean, dry with suitable cloth or air dry then re-assemble the airbrush.

We tested many different (enamels; oil paint; inks) products and found soaking for up to 10 minutes cleaned and released the airbrush, however different media may require longer time.
Water through the airbrush is not recommended when using oils based media.

The Reviver can be re-used - allow to stand, then filter (cloth or paper) into a clean container. Label and store the used Zest-it Airbrush Cleaner and Reviver for re-use.

Note:- If you wish to use water based media in an Airbrush that has been used for oils then we would recommend the Airbrush Cleaner (for Acrylics above) or Zest-it Washaway for cleaning the brush. If not cleaned in this way the products can emulsify in the brush causing spitting, bubbling can also occur.

Safety note: When spraying through the airbrush point away from the body and face; do not breathe the spray; have adequate ventilation; wash hands frequently; promptly wipe up spills as the surface will be slippy; wear Nitrile gloves if skin is sensitive; eye protection if splashes are likely.
Not for use with food - cake decorating; not for use with body/tanning aplications.

Sizes 125 ml; 250 ml; 500 ml and 1 Litre
